The Great Hall at the University was due to be refurbished and needed modernizing to facilitate the prestigious graduation and award ceremonies that are regularly held in the theatre style space.
‘Due to size and scale of the hall the Audio Visual elements were particularly key to the success of the refurbishment.’
A partnership approach was adopted and Universal worked alongside the University and the building contractors undertaking the refurbishment to ensure that the project was completely successfully, on time and on budget.
Universal are approved suppliers of the NEUPC( North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium), Audio Visual Equipment framework Agreement which provides member institutions a fully comprehensive solution to their audio visual requirements, including product supply, system design and installation, tendered in full compliance with EU procurement legislation.
The Solution
The end solution needed the ability to send any source signal from either of the 5 lectern positions on the stage or the booth equipment to three key areas, the first being the Panasonic HD projector within the Great Hall, the second area was the dressing room on the first floor to allow live mixing of the presentations along with live camera feeds, various camera input positions were installed throughout the whole of the Great Hall giving the University various positions where they could place their broadcast cameras, and the third being the small hall to give the flexibility to use as an overflow for large scale events.
After careful deliberation with the university we chose Bose Professional to assist in the design of the sound system in order to achieve a multifunctional use system that could handle the electronic organ on award ceremony days but also still retain the speech intelligibility throughout.
All made user friendly with full control being achieved from either the lectern on the stage or a booth at the back of the auditorium via AMX touch panel interfaces.
Results
“Here at Bradford University we now have a facility we can be proud of for many years to come…..the Great and Small Hall are used for many events throughout the year and the audio visual facilities are what brings these rooms to life. It is always a pleasure working with Universal and the dedicated team, I can always count on them to deliver.” David Beebe, Audio Visual Manager, University of Bradford.
