The Brief
The audio visual project was first brought to Universal AV by Senior AV Technician at The Sage Gateshead, Ben Hines. Universal AV worked with The Sage Gateshead to establish their requirements for the new system integration. The venue is well known for its acoustic excellence and so even though our project was to be installed into a meeting room, it was never an option from the very beginning to provide an Audio Visual solution that didn’t live up to the expectations of our client . An acoustic ceiling was to be installed in the room, meaning it was essential we completed a “first fix” before returning to complete the installation at a later date.
The Squires Seminar room installation at The Sage Gateshead was part of a refurbishment and due to this, Universal AV had to project manage efficiently and time the installation so as not to coincide with the various other contractors involved in the refurbishment, and avoid any damage to the equipment.

The Solution
We prepared the AV cabinet in the assembly room of our workshop and completed the final elements on site, utilising existing speakers and the projector installed previously we integrated a full working system featuring new and existing equipment. Fully programmed to suit the requirements of the end user, the control system consisted of a multi-functional AMX control system with a touch screen interface.
Both The Sage Gateshead and Universal AV take a lot of pride in what they do, which made the project such a success. The Sage Gateshead can also feel comforted knowing that they have the technical knowledge and ability of our team at their disposal. The fact that we have since been invited back to complete another AV installation also says a lot about the standards of our work.

The Squires Seminar Room will make an excellent additional conference and events space, specifically designed for this purpose. As the Squires Seminar room has fixed AV equipment it is ideal for small meetings such as AGMs etc. The room will be able to accommodate 35 people adding to the range of rooms with capacities from 35 delegates up to 1640 delegates in any one space.
